Tamod Community

Phatthalung

“Tamod community”, originally known as “Tohmod”, is located on a plateau near the mountains of Southern Thailand, surrounded by the Banthat range. The area is hilly – with flats, low rolling hills and running water, covered with trees. Home to both Buddhists and Muslims, this spot is often called the “community of two religions”. Here, you can experience a way of life while heading out on an adventure on the water. Taste unique southern dishes and learn about the “hundred tiffin” tradition, where delicious tiffin meals represent the unity of the locals. Get to know about local traditions and skills that are taught within this community, such as breeding tiny dwarf bees at the Bantad Bee Conservation Group and also take a look at the upside-down vegetable growing at Ta Nueng’s Garden. Try a delicious, crispy roti, a secret recipe that has been passed along here for generations.
