This old community is located at the river estuary, just off the coast by the most abundant canal in the eastern Pra Sae Basin. The here locals have learned from nature and the connection between the land and the coast. After you arrive in the coumunity, breathe in the aroma of grilled “Janglon” (fish and coconut patties) and learn about the hundred-year-old history of the area through a sightseeing tour. Enjoy the sea breeze as you head to “Prong Thong” mangrove field; notice how the Indian mangrove’s shiny light green leaves turn a golden color when illuminated by the afternoon sunlight, as well as the fiddler crabs showing off their bright claws while sunbathing on the shore. After all the fun activities, head back and relax with a Thai massage and “Tom yam” foot spa to help improve blood circulation. Learn how to make tea from Indian marsh fleabane, a brackish water herb packed with medicinal properties. The tea is famous for its aromatic fragrance and health benefits, crafted by the local wisdom and tradition that unifies the coast and people as one.

Culture and Local Heritage

Understanding the fisherman’s lifestyle is a way of understanding the significance of the mangrove forest, especially for the Prasae locals. Most of the locals are farmers, orchardists and fishermen.

The local wisdom centers around making Indian marsh fleabane tea, which can help to reduce blood sugar levels.

Day one
Morning Arrive at this coastal community located at the delta. You’ll be greeted with a welcome drink of Indian marsh fleabane tea, which is both refreshing and beneficial. Enjoy the drink together with Prasae’s not-to-be-missed desserts, like stuffed glutinous rice balls with coconut flakes and coconut-stuffed dumplings.
Explore Prasae’s old quarter on a tricycle, one of the community’s most used vehicles. Ride around the 100-year-old community and admire the streets that are lined up with old wooden buildings.
Visit Pra Sae Community Museum. Learn about the community’s history through displays including vintage photos displayed in the museum’s beautiful two-story house.
Noon Continue to fill your stomach with some sweet and sour stir-fried noodles.
Afternoon Visit Uncle Lome’s House to learn how Indian marsh fleabane tea is produced; you’ll get to taste some of the herbal tea, as well.
Follow the trail through Rayong’s largest mangrove forest. Admire the grandeur of the mangrove trees that blanket the entire area.
Take a boat ride along the canal. See the crabs bathing in the sun outside, surrounded by a vast mangrove forest. You’ll also head alongside an amazing 2-kilometer-long barrier made of over 130,000 bamboo trees.
Evening Say goodbye to Pra Sae community.
Have dinner at Tam Nan Pa restaurant where you can take in the evening atmosphere surrounded by lush green trees and climbing plants. A waterfall flows down to a crystal-clear stream where fish swim freely. Enjoy some traditional dishes cooked by the best chef in town.
Day two
Late morning Stroll along Yomjinda Road in Rayong’s old quarter. Marvel at the charm of the old buildings lining the streets where the air of prosperity in the olden still lingers.

  • Visit Rayong City Museum, housed in an old wooden building, and see an exhibition of artifacts from the past.
  • Admire the magnificent Chaomae Thapthim Shrine.
  • Explore Yomjinda House, a single-story wooden house located alongside Rayong river that used to serve as the residence of Pra Sri Samutpok, a former ruler of Rayong.
Check-in at Rayong, a vintage-style café located in an old building. Have some tea or coffee and try one of their delicious desserts.
Follow the agarwood aroma all the way to Suan Hom Meesuk (Agarwood Farmer Group) to learn about agarwood’s benefits in treating diseases and maintaining the balance of bodily elements. The plant has been regularly used for more than 100 years. Shop for various agarwood products such as massage oil, soap and incense.
Noon Have lunch at Laemcharoen Seafood, one of the most popular seafood restaurants in the area, with their many branches as proof of quality. In Rayong where the sea is never far away, you can enjoy a whole menu of original seafood dishes, especially the famous fried sea bass with fish sauce.
Afternoon Travel back to Bangkok.
